Stephen Kellogg & The Sixers

Stephen Kellogg & the Sixers is a Massachusetts quartet made up of two distinct parts. In one corner stands the unmistakably jubilant personality of rock-n-roll’s The Sixers; in the other sits an authentic American songwriter in a period of profound growth. Rising triumphantly in the center is a band whose music is the perfect marriage of the two. Glassjaw Boxer, the band’s current release,... more

Giving Back Through Music

Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers is an up-coming band that has toured with bands such as O.A.R (Of A Revolution), Guster, Mike Doughty, Hanson and many others. Stephen and his band released an Album called Glassjaw Boxer which was rated top five albums of 2007 by USA Today. The group consists of five members: Stephen Kellogg (lead vocals, and Acoustic Guitar), Keith Karlson (electric bass, backup vocals, and keyboard), Brian Factor (Drums), Kyle Riabko (electric guitar), and Chris Soucy—who is temporarily not touring with the band—plays electric guitar.

Music was a huge part of the bands lifestyle when they were growing up. Classics such as Crosby, Stills, and Nash were influences to the rise of Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers. Seventies rock was a big part of the influence, but (to Kellogg) other kinds of genres have helped him seek his dream. “ I got really into eighties metal, and I loved to watch bands like Bon Jovi and Motley Crue play, and I really think that those two decades of rock (the energy from the eighties and the sound of the seventies) is what we are trying to shoot for” says Kellogg.

This musical ensemble has involved themselves in charities such as donating to St. Jude children’s hospital. “To do that kind of thing for the kids, it really makes us feel like we have a purpose” Kellogg said. The band has also played for the military. “That was our chance to give back to them since they have been doing so much for us” Stephen spoke. As far as charity in Stephen’s community goes, he would like to see school bullying decrease: “I would like to see a program where the kids would do some community service and see what people really go through.”

Although the band is making their dream come true, they know that the road ahead of them is long. They have learned to be happy where they are and how their career is going. “It’s important to set goals for the future, but I think that the most important thing, right now, is the present and being happy with what we are now” Kellogg humbly states.
