Blind Melon

In recent years, the tale of Blind Melon has taken a dramatic turn – from an abrupt and tragic end, to a rebirth and reconnection with their legion of fans. The New Blind Melon

1. Tell me a little about the band and your long hiatus.
Brad and I played in a couple of bands and then purchased a studio here in LA recording and producing other bands. Roger also played in some bands and was just enjoying life. Glen got in touch with his artistic side and did a lot of painting.

2. How did you find your new singer and what does he bring to the table that’s different?
While producing Travis’s album Brad and I where just amazed at the talent that he had along with the “it” factor. At that point we I had a barbeque at my house and we just corned Travis and asked him if he wanted to join the band. Glen and Roger flew out to L.A. to hear Travis and after one song we knew he was it. Travis is the main reason why we decided to continue the Blind Melon name, he is the why it all came together.

3. When should we see a new album and full US tour?
The album is all recorded and is waiting for the last three songs to be mixed and we are hoping to release the album and our full US tour during the first part of 2008.

4. If you could support two causes or organizations, what would they be?
Wow that’s a great question. Well I just had a son which makes three members of the band who have kids so I would have to say something that improves kids lives.

5. Have you showed signs of goodwill or participated in any charity events in the past?
I played the Freedom Concert with Live.

6. If you could create a program that would improve your community, what would it be?
I would like to create a program that could provide free health care to all children. I just feel that NO child should be denied hospital care because they cannot afford or do not qualify for free healthcare.

7. Where do you see the band in 5 years?
Hopefully playing arenas and making our 3rd or 4th album.
