Pioneers for the advancement of non profit organizations

1) Marc Brownstein on how he got involved with The Conscious Alliance "I got involved with Conscious Alliance when I started doing Headcount, which is a jamband based voter registration drive. We basically went out on tour with other acts like The Dead, Phish, String Cheese Incident, Moe. and Government Mule and registered voters for the 2004 presidential election. While we were on the road we started to hook up with other non profits and started sharing table space and resources and one group, The Conscious Alliance, was the one organization at every show in which we were involved. It seemed natural that when the Biscuits got back up and running we would work with some of those projects(specifically The Conscious Alliance)." 2) The Co-founder of Headcount talks about the "Midterms Matter Tour" "Headcount is getting going this summer on a tour called "Midterms Matter". It going to be with Of A Revolution (OAR), Dave Matthews, Moe. and The Disco Biscuits and we are going to send teams of people out to each band's show and try to spread the word about the upcoming midterm elections." 3) Brownstein remarks on the huge success of their "Conscious Alliance" food drive for their tour opening shows in Vermont this past April. "The food drive was a huge success. They told us it was the number one food drive they have ever done in Vermont and I was really excited about that. I was a little concerned as to whether our kids who are just now becoming exposed to these non profit organizations would rise to the occasion and apparently they rose to the occasion in a big way."
