Vijay Raju

Vijay Raju was born in the summer of '86 to immigrant Indian parents in Chicago, IL. Throughout his early years, he moved frequently due to his parents’ relocation. As a result, he was exposed to cultures from all regions of the country and learned to embrace them all as his own. At the age of 7, his family settled in Chapel Hill, NC where he lived for several years.

In Chapel Hill, he spent his time delving into his appreciation of the arts, trying his hand at various instruments and lending his ear to numerous music genres. At the age of 13, he moved to a suburb in metro Atlanta. Throughout his high school education he was fully introduced to rap music, which was growing at a rapid pace in the south. During this time, he developed a fondness for the poetics of hip-hop that surrounded him. Although never delving into the art himself, he had a deep understanding of the elements that made it so captivating.

Upon graduating from high school, he enrolled at the University of Georgia to continue his education. He learned more about the world and more about the rhyme. His tastes spanned a great expanse from rap, ranging from the early 90's classics like Wu Tang, to the modern successes like Kanye West. This wide range of tastes has dramatically affected his flow and form, making him able to effectively span a large range of styles. During the winter of 2008, he decided it was time to try his hand at rapping officially, spending his time developing his sound further, while crafting songs to promote himself to a level of widespread recognition.

Over the past months, he has continually produced/written/rapped infectious tunes that constantly captivate his surrounding Atlantans. Gearing up for a foray deeper into the realm of hip-hop, he is seeing fast growing success in his Atlanta community and anxiously awaits the things to come.
